This design-build parking deck utilizes pre-stressed, pre-topped structural precast supported on a deep foundation system for the frame of the deck. The precast façade uses reveals, contrasting light, and heavy sandblast bands to soften the major elements of the façade. Careful attention is paid to the façade through the use of mixtures of aggregates and colored cement matrix as well as the incorporation of butt glazed curtainwall systems to assimilate the deck into the architecture of the campus, and compliment the adjoining Engineering Technology Building. The deck includes secured entrances for holiday and weekends, as well as provisions to incorporate both security cameras and emergency Blue Phones.
The placement of the deck on site was carefully determined to minmize disturbance to future building sites and at the same time as maximizing the universal parking goals.
