BETHEL MIDTOWN VILLAGE

Location: Athens, GA

Once considered an example of urban decay, this dramatic transformation is a
credit to Russell New Urban and a testament to its dedication and expertise in invigorating communities. The goal was to attain "market-rate" standards so that Bethel Midtown Village could compete with other tax-credit based communities.  Extensive repairs were done inside the units and in the common areas. Many units underwent roof repair rehabilitation, while the parking lots and sidewalks were resurfaced and expanded. The 190 apartments received facelifts that included new kitchen cabinets, counter tops and appliances, air-conditioning upgrades, replacement of flooring and sub flooring, ceiling replacement and water damage abatement. Storm water drainage improvements and erosion control measures were instituted, and the community was gated.
