Due to the 1994 Flood in Albany, Georgia, Albany State University’s new and existing buildings sustained significant water damage. With approximately $120 million in funds from the State, insurance agencies and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a recovery program was established and implemented by the University and the Georgia State Board of Regents.
This recovery program consists of three phases. Phase I consisted of emergency response, clean-up and constructing temporary facilities. Phase II consisted of the demolition and renovation of existing buildings. Phase III consisted of the design and construction of replacement buildings.
