Kathy, who joined the company in 2018, was responsible for the accounting, taxation, financial reporting and analysis of activity for Russell. Now, as Director of Finance, Kathy continues to play a critical role related to accounting, financial reporting and analysis of activity that occurs in the company, and also provides performance analysis of operations and projects, as well as budget monitoring and development. Kathy will report directly to Mark Birch, the new CFO for Russell and the Russell Family Office.

“Kathy’s integrity, strong history of sound accounting practices and keen awareness of financials keeps us aware and informed regarding our financial performance, and she’s done so behind the scenes over the years,” said Michael Russell, Sr., H. J. Russell & Company CEO. “With more than 35 years of experience, Kathy’s finance and real estate and development background has brought a wealth of insight and counsel to our finance team and leadership.”

Prior to joining Russell, Kathy served as an assistant controller and then controller at Cortland, a multifamily real estate investment, development and management firm with design, construction and renovation capabilities. “Finance has always been much more than being a ‘bean counter,’” said Kathy. “I am intrigued by solving complex problems, and by serving in this new role, I will have the opportunity to not only mentor others, but to be a member of the leadership team that’s informing the financial aspects of the decision-making process. It’s rewarding to partner with the various departments to accomplish common goals that impact the fiscal health and well-being of the company built on such a legacy.”

Originally from New York, Kathy graduated with honors from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
