Presented by Christian City, the Community Champion Awards honor individuals, nonprofit organizations, and corporations that have made a lasting impact across metro Atlanta. Michael was recognized as the individual honoree in the 2026 class alongside corporate honoree Google and nonprofit honoree YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
Michael’s recognition reflects his influential leadership in Atlanta’s business and civic communities, as well as his continued commitment to advancing economic development and community engagement across the region.
As CEO of H. J. Russell & Company, Michael continues to carry forward the vision established by Herman J. Russell, who built the company on the belief that business can be a powerful force for opportunity, progress and community impact.

The 2026 Community Champion Awards were held on April 29 at Georgia Aquarium in support of Christian City’s mission to provide vital services to children, families, young adults and seniors through housing, healthcare, crisis intervention, and community-centered programs.
