SUMMARY:

Craft and execute the project’s DEI strategy in alignment with the client’s mission, vision, and values.  Develops, implements, and monitors diversity goals and programs for various projects. Lead initiatives within the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion environment with professionalism and passion. The role, which will report to the Vice President of DEI, requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to navigate through all levels of the project, and technical proficiency in Office tools and technology. Must be a self-starter with demonstrated engagement and leadership in DEI and the community.  Supports the diversity plan and builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. Displays and demonstrates passion as well as professional and personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Driving execution of DEI initiatives: Using your project management skills and proactive attitude to get buy-in from stakeholders while advancing projects and activities. Contribute to decision-making and development of strategies.

Engage employees across all levels of the project in DEI efforts: Scale DEI initiatives by building trust and being the advocate for DEI across the projects, from key leaders, management, to engineers.

Celebrate DEI: Highlight DEI by overseeing DEI internal communications, events, and celebrations.

Design DEI plans specific to the various projects within the Construction and Program Management division.

Visit the project sites monthly and collaborate with the team to carry forth the goals and objectives as set forth in the DEI plan.

Build relationships with clients, majority and minority subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Assess organizational efforts in support of the DEI program, establish best practices, and identify initiatives and/or programs to remove barriers that affect supplier retention and advancement.

Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster the projects’ diversity goals.

Assist with the development and execution of outreach events, workshops, lunch and learns, and seminars for the project team, majority and minority subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with project team, trade organizations, and certifying agencies.

Attend diversity workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay current on industry standard procedures and trends.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and execution to develop, implement and monitor diversity, equity, and inclusion on each project.

Performs work in a safe manner and actively encourages others to comply with safety rules and regulations, including wearing of personal protective devices.

Travel is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An operational track record in delivering D&I-related projects, with a minimum of 4 years of diversity and inclusion experience in a corporate environment.

Strong project management skills and track record in executing DEI programs that drive results.

An action-oriented attitude and approach

Experience with stakeholder management and comfortable working with senior executives.

Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

The ability to readily and courteously provide DEI subject matter expertise to inform decision making.

The ability to juggle multiple projects while keeping your cool and sense of humor.

A passion for creating an inclusive, diverse, and equitable work environment that brings out the best in everyone.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) in Business Management from a four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Should have a minimum of two relevant industry certifications.

Keep current with continuing education to maintain current level of responsibility.
